Jrashen II to be started in November 2022
On June 10, 2022, the Council of Elders of the Spitak Community approved providing My Forest Armenia with the land in question for 25 years to plant a forest. On July 22, 2022, we signed the Real Estate Free Land Use Agreement with the Spitak community for Jrashen II area.
The Jrashen afforestation area is divided into three areas and covers a total area of 350 ha. Following the filing of our Environmental Impact Assessment at the end of March 2020, the Jrashen afforestation area was approved by the Ministry of Environment by mid-September. We finished planting the Jrashen I in Spring Planting 2022, and the whole area of 110 ha is now planted.
Preparation and challenges
We will first start fencing of the area in order to be able to start planting in Fall 2022. The area covers a total of 150 ha, and the altitude ranges from 2170 to 2450 m. It is facing Jrashen I and has a significant advantage of having mostly northern exposure. That means good quality land and high moisture. We will plant Caucasian oak, pines, wild pears, and shrubs here.
One drawback, though, is that some areas are pretty steep. It will be a challenge both for fencing and for planting. However, our professional team can’t do without taking on challenges. We are determined to succeed.
It is your chance
You still have a chance to plant your trees in this area. You don’t even have to be physically present; , and start planting trees every month. Just imagine having planted your own small forest in some 20-25 years. This will be your most precious gift to future generations.
