During Spring Planting 2023, we expanded our efforts to a new 116 hectare afforestation site in Urasar, Lori province.At 360 hectares in total, this land is more than three times larger than our previous sites and offers far better conditions. With elevations ranging from 1,700 to 2,000 meters, predominantly northern exposure, and excellent soil quality, the site is ideally suited for establishing a rich, diverse forest.Between Fall 2022 and Spring 2023, we planted 409,264 trees across this area, representing 13 species of broadleaf trees and several native shrubs. This massive effort was made possible thanks to the support of 240 local community members who joined our team.The results have been very promising. Our first monitoring in summer 2023 showed an impressive survival rate of over 80 percent. By 2024, many trees had already shown remarkable growth, thriving in conditions that provide an excellent foundation for a resilient new forest.

Lors de la plantation de printemps 2023, nous avons étendu nos efforts à un nouveau site de reboisement de 116 hectares à Urasar, dans la province de Lori.Avec un total de 360 hectares, cette surface est plus de trois fois plus grande que nos sites précédents et offre des conditions bien meilleures. Avec des altitudes allant de 1 700 à 2 000 mètres, une exposition majoritairement nordique et une excellente qualité de sol, le site est idéal pour établir une forêt riche et diversifiée.Entre l’automne 2022 et le printemps 2023, nous avons planté 409 264 arbres sur cette zone, représentant 13 espèces d’arbres à feuilles larges et plusieurs arbustes locaux. Cet effort massif a été rendu possible grâce au soutien de 240 membres de la communauté locale qui ont rejoint notre équipe.Les résultats ont été très prometteurs. Notre premier suivi à l’été 2023 a montré un taux de survie impressionnant de plus de 80 %. En 2024, de nombreux arbres avaient déjà montré une croissance remarquable, prospérant dans des conditions offrant une excellente base pour une nouvelle forêt résiliente.

Jrashen 2 covers 110 hectares, located just across from Jrashen 1. Its biggest advantage is the predominantly northern exposure, which provides high soil moisture and overall good land quality. The main challenge, however, is the steep terrain, which makes both fencing and planting more difficult.In the fall of 2022, we planted 392,710 trees in this area. Encouragingly, the site already contained small ravines with natural birch and aspen woods, a promising sign for the development of a healthy forest.Monitoring results have been positive. In 2023, we registered an 81 percent survival rate, which stabilized at 70 percent after the second summer. While most seedlings are doing well, pines planted at higher altitudes showed weaker results. Seedlings in the gorges are thriving, whereas those on the hillsides grow more slowly due to strong winds.Overall, the most important result is clear: the seedlings are taking root and growing, steadily laying the foundation for a resilient new forest.

Jrashen 2 couvre 110 hectares et se trouve juste en face de Jrashen 1. Son principal avantage est son exposition majoritairement nord, qui assure une forte humidité du sol et une bonne qualité générale des terres. Le principal défi, cependant, est le relief escarpé, qui complique aussi bien la pose des clôtures que la plantation.À l’automne 2022, nous avons planté 392 710 arbres dans cette zone. Fait encourageant, le site comportait déjà de petits ravins abritant des bosquets naturels de bouleaux et de trembles, un signe prometteur pour le développement d’une forêt saine.Les résultats du suivi se sont révélés positifs. En 2023, nous avons enregistré un taux de survie de 81 %, qui s’est stabilisé à 70 % après le deuxième été. Alors que la majorité des plants se portent bien, les pins plantés en altitude ont montré de moins bons résultats. Les plants situés dans les ravins prospèrent, tandis que ceux des pentes poussent plus lentement en raison des vents forts.Dans l’ensemble, le constat essentiel est clair : les plants s’enracinent et grandissent, posant progressivement les bases d’une nouvelle forêt résiliente.

In Lernajur V, we have planted 225,076 seedlings across 75 hectares of area in fall 2024. More than 90,000 closed-root birch trees grown in containers took center stage. While the new afforestation site in Lernajur V required additional logistics, including the use of 4x4 trucks to transport workers, the planting process ran smoothly. Our team adapted to the terrain, ensuring every seedling and acorn was carefully planted to maximize growth potential.

À Lernajur V, nous avons planté 225 076 plants sur 75 hectares à l’automne 2024. Plus de 90 000 bouleaux à racines fermées, cultivés en conteneurs, ont occupé une place centrale. Bien que le nouveau site d’afforestation de Lernajur V ait nécessité une logistique supplémentaire, notamment l’utilisation de camions 4x4 pour transporter les travailleurs, le processus de plantation s’est déroulé sans difficulté. Notre équipe s’est adaptée au terrain, veillant à ce que chaque plant et chaque gland soient soigneusement mis en terre afin de maximiser leur potentiel de croissance.
