We began planting in Jrashen in Spring 2021. To grasp the magnitude of this site, one truly has to walk its steep hills, 110 hectares is simply immense. To protect the area from grazing, we installed 1,000 poles across 4,000 meters of terrain, often crossing gorges and steep slopes. This step was essential, as the land is heavily used by cow and sheep herders.In Jrashen 1, we planted primarily pines, oaks, wild pears, maples, and several species of shrubs. At the height of the planting and maintenance seasons, up to 140 people worked on the site. By the end of 2021, we had planted a total of 359,982 trees and shrubs, marking Jrashen 1 as our first large-scale afforestation area.Monitoring in 2022 showed mixed results. Survival rates on the north and northwest slopes ranged from 60 to 70 percent, while the southern slopes fared much worse. In response, we carried out a major replanting in Spring 2024, adding more than 102,000 trees in areas with the best potential.Our goal has always been clear: not just to plant trees, but to create a living, resilient forest.

Nous avons commencé à planter à Jrashen au printemps 2021. Pour mesurer l’ampleur de ce site, il faut vraiment parcourir ses collines escarpées : 110 hectares, c’est immense. Pour protéger la zone du pâturage, nous avons installé 1 000 poteaux sur 4 000 mètres de terrain, traversant souvent des gorges et des pentes raides. Cette étape était essentielle, car la terre est largement utilisée par les éleveurs de vaches et de moutons.À Jrashen 1, nous avons principalement planté des pins, des chênes, des poiriers sauvages, des érables et plusieurs espèces de buissons. Au plus fort des saisons de plantation et d’entretien, jusqu’à 140 personnes travaillaient sur le site. À la fin de 2021, nous avions planté un total de 359 982 arbres et arbustes, faisant de Jrashen 1 notre premier site d’afforestation à grande échelle.Le suivi en 2022 a donné des résultats mitigés. Les taux de survie sur les pentes nord et nord-ouest variaient entre 60 et 70 %, tandis que les pentes sud étaient beaucoup moins favorables. En réponse, nous avons réalisé un reboisement majeur au printemps 2024, ajoutant plus de 102 000 arbres dans les zones présentant le meilleur potentiel.Notre objectif a toujours été clair : non seulement planter des arbres, mais créer une forêt vivante et résiliente.
