2020 թվականի աշնանը և 2021 թվականի գարնանը մենք Շիրակամուտի անտառացման տարածքում տնկեցինք 104,872 ծառ՝ մեր առաջին անտառվերականգնման տեղանքը։ Ամեն օր տեղի գյուղից 25 աշխատող գալիս էին տարածք՝ Լոռու մարզում հավաքված գիհիները ցանելու և մեր Դեբետի տնկարանում աճեցված տնկիները տնկելու համար։Մինչ տնկման աշխատանքների մեկնարկը, մենք ամբողջ տարածքը պարիսպապատեցինք 900 փայտե և 1,000 բետոնե սյուներով՝ երիտասարդ անտառը արածեցվող կենդանիներից պաշտպանելու համար անչափ կարևոր քայլ։2021 թվականի ամառը բերեց անակնկալ դժվարություն՝ խիստ երաշտ, երբ ջերմաստիճանը նույնիսկ 2,000 մետր բարձրության վրա հասնում էր 27°C-ի։ Տնկած ծառերը փրկելու համար մենք տեղադրեցինք երկու հզոր պոմպ, 3,000 մետր խողովակ և ութ 50 մետրանոց գուլպա՝ մոտակա օրոգելից ջուրը տարածք հասցնելու համար։ Չնայած ութ աշխատողի կողմից իրականացվող շարունակական ձեռքով ջրմանը՝ գոյատևման ցուցանիշները բավարարչափ չէին։2022 թվականի ապրիլին մենք փոխարինեցինք չորացած տնկիներին սոճիներով, որոնք ավելի երաշտադիմացկուն են և արագաճ, ապահովելով նաև ստվեր՝ նպաստելով լայնատերև տեսակների աճին։ Գիտակցելով նոր մոտեցումների անհրաժեշտությունը՝ 2023 թվականին մեկնարկեցինք երկու հեկտար փորձադաշտ՝ բարելավված տեխնիկաներ փորձարկելու նպատակով, որոնցից ամենակարևորը կաթիլային ոռոգման համակարգն էր։Նոր նպատակային ֆինանսավորման շնորհիվ մենք նախատեսում ենք 2024 թվականին այս ոռոգման համակարգը տարածել ավելի մեծ հատվածների վրա՝ երիտասարդ անտառին ապահովելով աճելու և ուժեղանալու ավելի բարձր հնարավորություն՝ չնայած կլիմայի փոփոխության մարտահրավերներին։

In Fall 2020 and Spring 2021, we planted 104,872 trees in the Shirakamut afforestation area, our very first reforestation site. Every day, 25 workers from the local village came to the field to sow acorns collected in Lori province and plant seedlings grown in our Debet nursery.Before planting could begin, we fenced the entire site with 900 wooden poles and 1,000 concrete poles, an essential step to protect the young forest from grazing animals.The summer of 2021 brought an unexpected challenge: a severe drought, with temperatures reaching 27°C even at 2,000 meters altitude. To save the seedlings, we installed two powerful pumps, 3,000 meters of tubing, and eight 50-meter hoses to bring water from a nearby canal. Despite continuous manual watering by a team of eight workers, survival rates were not satisfactory.In April 2022, we replaced the dead seedlings with pine trees, which are both more drought-resistant and fast-growing, providing shade that benefits deciduous species. Recognizing the need for new approaches, in 2023 we launched a two-hectare test plot to trial improved techniques, most importantly a drip irrigation system.Thanks to new dedicated funding, we plan to extend this irrigation system to larger areas in 2024, giving the young forest a stronger chance to thrive despite the challenges of a changing climate.

À l’automne 2020 et au printemps 2021, nous avons planté 104 872 arbres dans la zone de reboisement de Shirakamut, notre tout premier site de reforestation. Chaque jour, 25 travailleurs du village local se rendaient sur le terrain pour semer des glands collectés dans la province de Lori et planter des plants cultivés dans notre pépinière de Debet.Avant de commencer la plantation, nous avons clôturé l’ensemble du site avec 900 poteaux en bois et 1 000 poteaux en béton, une étape essentielle pour protéger la jeune forêt des animaux en pâturage.L’été 2021 a apporté un défi inattendu : une sécheresse sévère, avec des températures atteignant 27 °C même à 2 000 mètres d’altitude. Pour sauver les plants, nous avons installé deux pompes puissantes, 3 000 mètres de tuyaux et huit tuyaux de 50 mètres pour acheminer l’eau depuis un canal voisin. Malgré un arrosage manuel continu assuré par une équipe de huit personnes, les taux de survie n’ont pas été satisfaisants.En avril 2022, nous avons remplacé les plants morts par des pins, plus résistants à la sécheresse et à croissance rapide, procurant de l’ombre bénéfique aux espèces feuillues. Reconnaissant la nécessité de nouvelles approches, nous avons lancé en 2023 une parcelle test de deux hectares pour expérimenter des techniques améliorées, notamment un système d’irrigation goutte-à-goutte.Grâce à un nouveau financement dédié, nous prévoyons d’étendre ce système d’irrigation à de plus grandes surfaces en 2024, offrant ainsi à la jeune forêt de meilleures chances de prospérer malgré les défis d’un climat en évolution.

Մենք սկսեցինք տնկումը Ջրաշենում 2021 թվականի գարնանը: Այս տարածքի չափը լիովին հասկանալու համար պետք է քայլել դրա անդունդներով լեռներին՝ 110 հեկտարն իսկապես հսկայական է: Տարածքը արոտավայրերից պաշտպանելու համար մենք տեղադրեցինք 1,000 ոտքեր՝ 4,000 մետր տարածքում, հաճախ հատելով վտակներ և կտրուկ լանջեր: Այս քայլը անհրաժեշտ էր, քանի որ հողը լայնորեն օգտագործվում է կովերի և գառների արոտողների կողմից:Ջրաշեն 1-ում մենք հիմնականում տնկել ենք սոճիներ, ծառներ, վայրի դեղձ, դարչնագույն եղևնիներ և մի շարք թփեր: Տնկման և խնամքի սեզոնների բարձրակետին՝ մինչև 140 մարդ աշխատել է կայանում: 2021 թվականի վերջում մենք տնկել ենք ընդհանուր առմամբ 359,982 ծառեր և թփեր, դարձնելով Ջրաշեն 1-ը մեր առաջին լայնածավալ անտառացման տարածքը:2022 թվականին կատարված վերահսկողությունը ցույց տվեց խառն արդյունքներ. Հյուսիսային և հյուսիս-արևմուտքի լանջերի գոյատևման մակարդակն ընկած էր 60–70 տոկոսի միջև, մինչդեռ հարավային լանջերը շատ ավելի վատ վիճակում էին: Հաղորդագրության հետ համընթաց, մենք իրականացրեցինք մեծածավալ վերաբուսում 2024 թվականի գարնանը, ավելացնելով ավելի քան 102,000 ծառ այն տարածքներում, որոնք լավագույն ներուժն ունեին:Մեր նպատակը միշտ էլ պարզ էր՝ ոչ միայն տնկել ծառեր, այլ ստեղծել կենդանի և դիմացկուն անտառ:

We began planting in Jrashen in Spring 2021. To grasp the magnitude of this site, one truly has to walk its steep hills, 110 hectares is simply immense. To protect the area from grazing, we installed 1,000 poles across 4,000 meters of terrain, often crossing gorges and steep slopes. This step was essential, as the land is heavily used by cow and sheep herders.In Jrashen 1, we planted primarily pines, oaks, wild pears, maples, and several species of shrubs. At the height of the planting and maintenance seasons, up to 140 people worked on the site. By the end of 2021, we had planted a total of 359,982 trees and shrubs, marking Jrashen 1 as our first large-scale afforestation area.Monitoring in 2022 showed mixed results. Survival rates on the north and northwest slopes ranged from 60 to 70 percent, while the southern slopes fared much worse. In response, we carried out a major replanting in Spring 2024, adding more than 102,000 trees in areas with the best potential.Our goal has always been clear: not just to plant trees, but to create a living, resilient forest.

Nous avons commencé à planter à Jrashen au printemps 2021. Pour mesurer l’ampleur de ce site, il faut vraiment parcourir ses collines escarpées : 110 hectares, c’est immense. Pour protéger la zone du pâturage, nous avons installé 1 000 poteaux sur 4 000 mètres de terrain, traversant souvent des gorges et des pentes raides. Cette étape était essentielle, car la terre est largement utilisée par les éleveurs de vaches et de moutons.À Jrashen 1, nous avons principalement planté des pins, des chênes, des poiriers sauvages, des érables et plusieurs espèces de buissons. Au plus fort des saisons de plantation et d’entretien, jusqu’à 140 personnes travaillaient sur le site. À la fin de 2021, nous avions planté un total de 359 982 arbres et arbustes, faisant de Jrashen 1 notre premier site d’afforestation à grande échelle.Le suivi en 2022 a donné des résultats mitigés. Les taux de survie sur les pentes nord et nord-ouest variaient entre 60 et 70 %, tandis que les pentes sud étaient beaucoup moins favorables. En réponse, nous avons réalisé un reboisement majeur au printemps 2024, ajoutant plus de 102 000 arbres dans les zones présentant le meilleur potentiel.Notre objectif a toujours été clair : non seulement planter des arbres, mais créer une forêt vivante et résiliente.

Ջրաշեն 2-ը զբաղեցնում է 110 հեկտար և գտնվում է հենց Ջրաշեն 1-ի դիմաց։ Նրա ամենամեծ առավելությունը հիմնականում հյուսիսային լանջերն են, որոնք ապահովում են հողի բարձր խոնավություն և ընդհանուր լավ հողային որակ։ Գլխավոր դժվարությունը, սակայն, կտրուկ տեղանքն է, ինչը բարդացնում է թե՛ պարիսպների տեղադրումը, թե՛ տնկման աշխատանքները։2022 թվականի աշնանը մենք այս տարածքում տնկեցինք 392,710 ծառ։ Հուսադրող էր, որ տարածքում արդեն կային փոքր ձորակներ՝ բնական բոխու ևասպենի պուրակներով, ինչը լավ նշան է առողջ անտառի ձևավորման համար։Վերահսկման արդյունքները դրական են եղել։ 2023 թվականին գրանցվեց 81 տոկոս գոյատևման ցուցանիշ, որը երկրորդ ամռանից հետո կայունացավ 70 տոկոսի վրա։ Մինչդեռ տնկիների մեծ մասը լավ է զարգանում, բարձրադիր հատվածներում տնկված սոճիները ցույց տվեցին ավելի թույլ արդյունքներ։ Ձորակներում տնկիները աշխույժ աճում են, իսկ լանջերի վրա աճը դանդաղ է՝ ուժեղ քամիների պատճառով։Ընդհանուր առմամբ, արդյունքը հստակ է․ տնկիները արմատավորվում ու աճում են՝ աստիճանաբար ձևավորելով դիմացկուն նոր անտառի հիմքը։

Jrashen 2 covers 110 hectares, located just across from Jrashen 1. Its biggest advantage is the predominantly northern exposure, which provides high soil moisture and overall good land quality. The main challenge, however, is the steep terrain, which makes both fencing and planting more difficult.In the fall of 2022, we planted 392,710 trees in this area. Encouragingly, the site already contained small ravines with natural birch and aspen woods, a promising sign for the development of a healthy forest.Monitoring results have been positive. In 2023, we registered an 81 percent survival rate, which stabilized at 70 percent after the second summer. While most seedlings are doing well, pines planted at higher altitudes showed weaker results. Seedlings in the gorges are thriving, whereas those on the hillsides grow more slowly due to strong winds.Overall, the most important result is clear: the seedlings are taking root and growing, steadily laying the foundation for a resilient new forest.

Son principal avantage est son exposition majoritairement nord, qui assure une forte humidité du sol et une bonne qualité générale des terres. Le principal défi, cependant, est le relief escarpé, qui complique aussi bien la pose des clôtures que la plantation.À l’automne 2022, nous avons planté 392 710 arbres dans cette zone. Fait encourageant, le site comportait déjà de petits ravins abritant des bosquets naturels de bouleaux et de trembles, un signe prometteur pour le développement d’une forêt saine.Les résultats du suivi se sont révélés positifs. En 2023, nous avons enregistré un taux de survie de 81 %, qui s’est stabilisé à 70 % après le deuxième été. Alors que la majorité des plants se portent bien, les pins plantés en altitude ont montré de moins bons résultats. Les plants situés dans les ravins prospèrent, tandis que ceux des pentes poussent plus lentement en raison des vents forts.Dans l’ensemble, le constat essentiel est clair : les plants s’enracinent et grandissent, posant progressivement les bases d’une nouvelle forêt résiliente.

Ծաղկունք, Գեղարքունիքի մարզում, Բելգիական-Հայկական անտառի ծննդավայրն է՝ Բելգիայի և Հայաստանի միջև ընկերության կենդանի խորհրդանիշը։2025 թվականին Բելգիայի թագուհի Մաթիլդեի բացման արարողությունից հետո Ծաղկունքն դարձել է Հայաստանի էկոլոգիական ապագայի հանդեպ փոխադարձ նվիրվածության նշանակալի վայր։ Այս անտառը աճել է համատեղ ջանքերի շնորհիվ՝ Բելգիացի և հայ ձեռքեր միանալով՝ վերականգնելու հողը և կյանքի շունչ վերադարձնելու լեռներին։Մեր աշխատանքը այստեղ շարունակվում է՝ ընդլայնելով անտառը և տնկելով ավելի շատ տեղաբնիկ տեսակներ՝ կենսաբազմազանությունն ու կայունությունը ամրապնդելու համար։Ժամանակից դուրս և անընդհատ աճող, Ծաղկունքի անտառը համագործակցության, երախտագիտության և հույսի խորհրդանիշ է։

Tsaghkunk, in the Gegharkunik region, is the birthplace of the Belgian-Armenian Forest, a living symbol of friendship between Belgium and Armenia.Following the inauguration by Her Majesty Queen Mathilde of the Belgians in 2025, Tsaghkunk has become a meaningful site of shared commitment to Armenia’s ecological future. This forest grew from collective effort, from Belgians and Armenians joining hands to restore land and breathe life back into the mountains.Our work continues here, expanding the forest and planting more native species to strengthen biodiversity and resilience.Timeless and ever-growing, the forest of Tsaghkunk is a symbol of collaboration, gratitude, and hope.

Tsaghkunk, dans la région de Gegharkunik, est le berceau de la Forêt belgo-arménienne, un symbole vivant de l’amitié entre la Belgique et l’Arménie.Suite à l’inauguration par Sa Majesté la Reine Mathilde des Belges en 2025, Tsaghkunk est devenu un lieu significatif d’engagement partagé pour l’avenir écologique de l’Arménie. Cette forêt est née d’un effort collectif, de Belges et d’Arméniens unissant leurs mains pour restaurer la terre et redonner vie aux montagnes.Notre travail continue ici, en élargissant la forêt et en plantant davantage d’espèces locales pour renforcer la biodiversité et la résilience.Intemporelle et en constante expansion, la forêt de Tsaghkunk est un symbole de collaboration, de gratitude et d’espoir.
