On February 26, we launched the first “Forest Seedlings Nursery” training program in the scope of the Environmental Education Program of My Forest Armenia. 17 workers of our organization from three communities of Lori province attended the training, which took place at the Vanadzor Branch of the Armenian National Agrarian University.
The trainer, Gagik Amiryan, is our nurseries’ manager, an experienced silviculturist, who also lectures at the University. He is renowned for his expertise throughout the Caucasian region. He prepared a comprehensive and interactive video and power-point presentation on seedlings nursery topics. During the three days of training, the participants learned the particularities of identifying high-quality trees, proper seed collection, cleaning, planting, and testing, as well as seedlings care and maintenance taking into account the peculiarities of climate in different regions, such as altitude, bio-ecological conditions.
By organizing this training My Forest Armenia provided quality education for the participants. The latter developed their knowledge in
- Forest seed propagation,
- Seed pre-sowing processing,
- Growing seedlings in nurseries,
- Safety techniques and labor protection in nurseries.
The training will enable the participants to perform more professionally and efficiently in their job.
It is worth mentioning that following its environmental mission My Forest Armenia has an important social impact. By creating many new jobs, it has a significant influence on community development in the areas where we run nurseries and start reforestation projects.
